About Us

Bringing passenger rail back to Alabama.

The Alabama Passenger Rail Association (APRA) is an advocacy organization working to restore and expand intercity passenger rail service in Alabama.

Alabama is one of the few states with virtually no intercity passenger rail connecting its major population centers. APRA believes that modern, reliable passenger rail would strengthen the state's economy, expand transportation options for residents, reduce highway congestion, and connect communities across Alabama and the wider region.

Our work focuses on:

Advocacy - Building public and political support for passenger rail investment at the local, state, and federal levels.
Education - Informing Alabamians about the benefits of passenger rail and the opportunities available through current and proposed rail initiatives.
Coalition-building - Bringing together residents, businesses, civic leaders, and policymakers who share a vision for a connected Alabama.

Passenger rail has a future in Alabama, and APRA is committed to helping make it a reality. We invite everyone who shares this vision to join us.
